Director Gabriella Maselli McGrail of Maselli Films presents OCEAN IS SHE, a compelling film, set around the stunning beaches of Maroubra and Malabar in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.
The film highlights young local surfers with a special focus on female participation (as well as some local legends). The story follows Radha, a popular teenager who, after a night surf goes awry, inspires her younger sister to return to the water.
This project involved engaging the community through workshops with 30 local surfers and youths, featuring predominantly female talent both in front of and behind the camera. The team includes female Director of Photography and Editor Sabina Maselli, as well as Water DOPs Adrian Emerton and Ashlea Hingston.
The soundtrack also features incredibly talented emerging Australian female artists.
